BAG2K9 AUGUST AWARDS

Mini adventure month (just like many others this year it would seem :)

Best CD of recent times purchased
Lion’s Share – Dark Hours
Magnum - Princess Alice and the Broken Arrow
Yngwie Malmsteen - Perpetual Flame
Roger Joseph Manning Jr. - Catnip Dynamite
The Mars Volta - The Bedlam In Goliath
McQueen – Break the Silence
Muse - H.A.A.R.P: Live At Wembley
Seventh Wonder – Waiting In The Wings
Zero Hour - Dark Deceiver

Nice one from Magnum and I like the Muse album but it’s live and not new studio so the chirpy Roger Joseph Manning Jr. - Catnip Dynamite gets in.

Best CD from ages past purchased
Madness - Wonderful 1999
Roger Joseph Manning Jr. - The Land Of Pure Imagination 2006
Eric Martin Eric Martin 1985
Mind Odyssey - Keep It Turning1994
Mind Odyssey - Schizophenia 1995
Mind Odyssey - Nailed To The Shade 1998
Zodiac Mindwarp – Hoodlum Thunder 1991
ZZ Top – Eliminator 1983

Eric Martin’s first album is nice but not as good as his second. I’m really liking Mind Odyssey especially Schizophenia with it’s different stylings and elements of a 90s Queensryche in places.
But Roger Joseph Manning Jr. - The Land Of Pure Imagination is a lovely little singalong wonder. Not quite as good as his band collaborations of Jellyfish & imperial Drag but sits comfy in the poppy middle.

Best best of CD purchased
Denny Laine – Spreading My Wings The Ultimate
Legs Diamond – Favourites Vol 1 - Good solid rock tunes from 1977 to 2004. I might have to invest in volume 2.

Gig of the Month
Only one but it was a great AC/DC cover band LiveWire who I hope to see again.

Cinema film of the Month
A Perfect Getaway was ok enough but Inglorious Basterds was more memorable, especially one of the scenes near the end involving that mustached fella.

Film on TV
Boat Trip was actually quite funny
Bachelor Party 2 was highly amusing in a blokish way too
Shutter was ok
The House by The Cemetery was 80s Italian horror
Evil Breed was late night Zone Horror cannibal horror
What Happens In Vegas was good comedy
Butterfly On A Wheel had Gerald Butler & Peirce Brosnan against each other in a clever battle of wits thriller.

Rewatched Film on TV
Afterhours - An odd film, especially coming from Scorsese but quite memorable.

DVD watched
Bangcock Dangerous
Amusement
Ice Age 3: Dawn of The Dinosaurs
Smart People
The Burrowers
The Children
Population 436
Gran Torino
Babylon AD
Cass

Ice Age 3: Dawn of The Dinosaurs was the best animation – Simon Pegg stole the film.
Gran Torino was another somber yet occasionally violent Eastwwod film.

DVD re-watched
I showed Ravenous to K and she liked it. Good :)

Book read
I’ve had an idea. Sometimes K likes to watch some telly things that I’m not bothered about yet I record them for her to watch at mine. I could sit next to her and read then maybe :)

Top purchase
Possibly the first useful item we co-bought - Aset of 5 kitchen knifes (because K was fed up with attempting to cut tommys with my 1 little knife)

September has 14 days at work, maybe 1 gig but 1 party and a stag event :o
