BEST OF AUGUST 2K10

Not a good month really. Well half of it was but then medical and work problems got in our way a bit. But we’re out of the tunnel and the track ahead is a lot more clear.

Best CD of recent times purchased
Bacon Brothers - New Years Day 2008
Brother Firetribe - Live At Appolo 2010
Danger Danger – Revolve 2009
Daughtry - Leave This Town 2009
The Dead Weather – Horehound 2009
Neil Diamond - Hot August Night NYC 2009
H.E.A.T. - H.E.A.T 2009
Steve Howe - Homebrew 4
Unitopia - The Garden 2008

Kevin Bacon & his bro are great. I might have to get more (if I’ve room). Jack White’s The Dead Weather has a great rough retro vibe.
H.E.A.T. are a great young melodic rock band but this month the victor is progressive melodic rock with long and short songs over 2CD of Unitopia - The Garden. One of the vocalists sounds like Peter Gabriel. Ace!

Best CD from ages past purchased
UFO - Lights Out 1977 is better than
UFO – Obsession 1978
But for me Uriah Heep - Innocent Victim (1977) has more memorable songs on it.

Best best of CD purchased
He was best known for the brialliant Trasnformers: The Movie song The Touch and now known to me for many more thanks to Stan Bush - Capture The Dream: The Best Of. Great melodic AOR.

Gig of the Month
Well bugger me!

Cinema film of the Month
Toy Story 3
The Expendables

Film on TV
Blood: The Last Vampire
Shorts
Pride & Glory
John Tucker Must Die
The Hide was low budget andhad only 2 guys in the entire film but maninly thanks to the ending turned out to be quite shockingly memorable.

DVD watched
Grimm Love
Whisper
Scorpion King 2: Rise Of A Warrior
Catacombs
Carriers
The Road
Rendition
Salt
The Sorcerer's Apprentice
The Ghost Writer

The Road was deep and moving
Salt was action packed
The Sorcerer's Apprentice was effects laden
Whisper (about an evil demon spawn child) came in under the radar but was actually quite enjoyable

Book read
Still piling through my Classic Rock magazines.

Top purchase
Paying into the NHS all these years so I could get something back :)

September has 10 12-hour and 7 8-hour days at work, 1 gig, and another life change
