BEST OF JULY 2K12

July had a couple of social events which were good, but mostly I’ve been working, watching TV and looking at ways to get fit in the house and garden (when not pissing it down) while waiting for the sun to come out.
Then for the last few days I had sickness and the squits :o

Best album of recent times
Europe Bag Of Bones 2012
Gotthard Firebirth 2012
Redemption This Mortal Coil 2011
Slash - Apocalyptic Love 2012
Tarja What Lies Beneath 2010
Vintage Trouble - The Bomb Shelter Sessions 2011
Within Temptation - The Unforgiving 2011

Loving the new ones from Within Temptation and Gotthard.
Slash - Apocalyptic Love 2012 – One of the best things he’s done in a while. Ainly thanks to vocalist Myles Kennedy.
Redemption This Mortal Coil (2011) – Progressive metal featuring the vocalist Ray Alder from Fates Warning and guitarist. This album is themed from guitarist/keyboardist Nick Van Dyk being diagnosed with cancer and told he had 3–5 years to live, only to later have that diagnosis overturned and be declared cancer-free.

Best album from ages past
The Jeff Beck Group Truth 1968
Paolo Nutini Sunny Side Up 2009
Van Zant My Kind of Country 2007
Winterville Everything In Moderation 2005

Winterville Everything In Moderation (2005) – Nice rock from Pete Shoulder now of The Union (band featuring Thunder guitarist Luke Morley) fame.

Best best of album
Jeff Beck The Collection is ok but doesn’t seem to have enough of the lively Rod stuff for me so the more bouncy Reel Big Fish Greatest Hit... and More (1996-2005) gets it.
