2008 was brill to bad to good to cool to good. I learnt things, probably, hopefully, continuously. There were a few parties, a gathering of LJers, adventures into hearts. The first half had plenty of overtime at work, the second more free time. I occasionally felt out of place, sometimes in a good way, sometimes not. I bought some expensive things.
It’s been, interesting.
I also entertained myself with discs and gigs and other fun stuff.

Best CD of recent times purchased

I needed to mention all of those as I just couldn’t not.
The best for me out of those were James Blunt – All The Lost Souls, Eagles – Long Road Out Of Eden, Circus Maximus – Isolate, The Feeling – Join With Us, Tobias Sammet's Avantasia - The Scarecrow, Extreme - Saudades De Rock, Thought Chamber - Angular Perceptions.
The very best were
Whitesnake - Good To Be Bad – A return to form.
Pain Of Salvation – Scarsick – prog metal with a difference.
RPWL - The RPWL Experience – The spirit of Floyd lives.
Journey – Revelations – The new guy really is very good.
Dream Theater - Systematic Chaos - After the previous album didn’t quite grasp me this one did.

Best CD from ages past purchased

Alice Cooper - Trash

Some classics have been with me a while and now updated in my collection on CD and some are new to me like Lou Reed – Berlin, Graham Nash - Songs for Survivors & Robert Downey Jr - The Futurist which is the more recent of the olds (old being anything before 2005).
Other faves are Spin Doctors - Pocketfull Of Kyptonite, 10cc - How Dare You, AC/DC - Back In Black, Bryan Adams – Reckless.
Top of the tops are Billy Joel - Piano Man and maybe I’m turning AORy because I love Journey – Escape. These won’t appear on a Baggy best of again until a new format comes out or I do a best of the decade (which I probably will if I’m still here).

Best 6:
John Lennon - Working Class Hero - The Definitive Collection

Alice Cooper - The Life And Crimes Of Alice Cooper
Jellyfish - Best! (an achievement seeming as it’s 1 disc and not as old as the rest)
Dream Theater - Greatest Hit (... & 21 Other Pretty Cool Songs)
Slade - The Slade Box: A 4CD Anthology 1969-1991 because I just love their sound and many say that Noddy Holder is the best rock vocalist ever, or at least very unique.

SRF was once again a good experience (not including the heat and dust) especially Derringer, Coheed & Cambria, Pain Of Salvation, Whitesnake, Tesla, Royal Hunt and Avantasia.
Rick Astley deserves a mention because he’s Rick Astley.
Other brills were The Feeling, Asia, The Storys, Lou Reed (performing Berlin), The Moody Blues,James Blunt and Extreme (+Hot Leg).

Best 3 were Gomez, Ben Ottewell (from Gomez) (an intimate gig in a pub) and Journey probably because I was quite close to the front for all of them.

But my best buy was the thing most men need – a Panasonic 42" PLASMA TV.

2009 has about 180 days at work,15 gigs so far, and another change/mutation.
