So I got the subway down to the Staten Island ferry and had a nice 20 minute journey across with a great view of south Madhattan.
As part of the hop-on-hop-off buses there is a tour of the island. But I couldn’t find the bus so went back on the ferry.
It’s then a short walk to the Liberty Island ferries. But it can take 30 minutes to buy your tickets, go through the security checks, and then wait for the departure time. A very windy 15 minutes later and I was close to the big green lady. Time was short so I spent 10 minutes walking around her and then back in the queue for the return ferry.
But it took way longer to return than I had thought and by the time I got back to mainland it was too late to take the Brooklyn bus tour. So I continued the south loop tour through Chinatown, East Village, past the Rockefeller Center, central park south and then back to Times Square.
But it took way longer to return than I had though so I had also missed the last uptown bus tour. Oops!
I then remembered that I should eat so had a beer battered chicken fingers snack in the pub. Very nice. I spent 1 more half a beer in there than planned because there was an Alice In Chains fan in there to talk to.
After a brief hotel rest I went to check out Macy’s store where I had some B&J ice cream (Hot Fudge Sundae with Mint Choc Chunk) and do some proper shopping elsewhere for tacky NY T-shirts and hats.
Time had slipped by again and I made my way to the Empire State building which took ages to go through the lines so it was dark by the time I got to the top. By the top I mean the top of the top where for some more money you can go up from the 86th floor to the 102nd which was eerily quiet but had a nice view from the windows.
Then it was back to the pub for a final meal of beer battered fish and chips which came with a salad which had oranges in it :o
