Support came from Gun. Last time I saw them they had Toby (Little Angels) Jepson singing for them and they sounded good. Now the bass player has moved to vocals and while he does a decent enough job it didn’t seem as good as last time. The sound seemed a bit too loud, too distorted (man I sound like an oldie). I did still toe tap though but wouldn’t see them again if they headlined.
Big Country’s Stuart Adamson died in 2001. 6 years later for their 25th anniversary the remaining members briefly got back together and now a few years later are back again, this time with the guitarists son added on second guitar and also Mike Peters of the Alarm on vocals.
I think they already played Rock City last year and were back again, but this time to perform their 1983 ‘The Crossing’ in its entirety.
Before that they did 30 minutes of other songs which I think might have been connected to the album before then heading nearly 30 years into the past.
Having never seen them originally I don’t know how Mike compares to Stuart, but for me I think he did a very good job both with the singing and the interaction with the audience.
Highlights for me were the well known songs In a Big Country, Fields of Fire (400 Miles) and Look Away.
They played for under 2 hours and the crowd had a great time and so did I. If they will return I will too.
