GODA GRANNAR – The Swedish Good Neighbours, then men in hats who do rock covers in a slightly umpa style with additional accordion.
HELL – A band from Nottingham. Old fellas who should know better dressing up like the undead and playing old school metal that actually sounded quite good.
RETURN – melodic rock band. I didn’t know their stuff so occasionally drifted off into chill-land with the mellowness.
FISH – started out well and the music was good, but I think the crowd (including me) weren’t too bothered about his political statements.
Steve Rodgers (son of Paul) was supposed to be playing on one of the stages. But when we got there he seemed to have been replaced by a fat man singing with a metal band. Oh well.
ELECTRIC BOYS then got a bit of a viewing.
BAD COMPANY were excellent. Paul Rodgers was in fine voice as they went through their classics with ease.
SLAUGHTER clashed with another band. I saw a few though and they aren’t as good as on record but ok enough for a listen.
SYMPHONY X had Russell Allen singing for the second time at this year’s festival. A little more progressive metal than his other band. Great stuff.
I’ve been wanting to see LYNYRD SKYNYRD for a while and they always seemed to be playing too far away. They also seemed to go through their well known songs with ease and had plenty of the crowd dancing and singing along, especially during Alabama and possibly festival song highlight Free Bird
KING DIAMOND is back. I only saw a few songs and I think I might have enjoyed it all. But I decided to end year 10 (maybe the last for a while, who knows) with...
SLADE – or half of Slade (Noddy of course retired from the band 2 decades ago). I saw them at the first SRF I went to in 2003 and this served as a great (possible) bookend. I had been wearing my Family Guy Crimbo T-Shirt all day in hope that they would finish with their Crimbo song like they did the first time. From my position it looked like a roadie was showing Dave Hill something red in his hand (ooh) which Dave then shook his head to. This must have been the Crimbo song request and for whatever reason Dave didn’t think it would be suitable. I was a little upset over this, but accepted it as we walked out of the festival area and to the McDonalds near the hotel :)~
During my chicken wings Mötley Crüe were playing in a field somewhere close by.

It’s already been announced that RUSH will be playing next year. But at this moment I don’t know if my life will change again within that year. I’ve already got my tickets to see them in 2 UK venues already anyway.
